School Rules

Policy
NO MESSAGES will be delivered to
students unless it is a medical emergency.
Students are not allowed to make calls unless it is a medical

2. Uniform Policy
The school uniform is a light blue
button up shirt or blouse with sleeves to be worn with dark blue pants or skirt
and black dress shoes. Skorts are approved for everyday wear only.
The uniform is to be worn everyday. The formal uniform also consists of the school
plaid tie and school patch. The tie and
patch are to be worn every Monday and on special designated occasions such as
the first day of school and off-island trips where the formal uniform is the
dress of the day. During cooler
weather, the student may wear a dark blue cardigan type sweater (button
front). If the pupil is not in uniform,
an explanatory note must be presented to the teacher upon arrival at
school. The Ministry of Education
wishes complete compliance with each school's uniform and dress code as it
helps promote a positive image for the school community.
3. Homework
Any “class” work not completed during
school hours must be completed at home along with any regular “home” work. If you have questions about homework, DO NOT
CALL THE TEACHER AT HOME. Ask a
classmate or simply come to school the following morning at 8:30 and ask the
teacher or a classmate for help.
4. Rainy Day
School will be held as usual even if it
is raining when school is to start. Please
have your child at school as soon as possible on those days. Also, please advise your child at the
beginning of the term what he/she should do if it is raining when school is
dismissed. (Example: Should he/she wait
at the school for you to bring a raincoat?)
If it is raining very hard when school is to resume after lunch, try to
return to school no later than

POWER OUTAGES
If the power is off when school is to
begin in the morning, class will be held until break time. A decision will be made if the power is not
restored by then. If the power goes off
during lunch, school will be held as usual for the afternoon subjects.
6. PHYSICAL
EDUCATION
Students cannot be excused from PE
unless accompanied by a doctor’s note.
The PE uniform consists of a yellow school tee shirt and navy blue PE
type, loose fitting shorts. White
lace-up sneakers or white, lace-up preferred, athletic shoes with no designs
other than the manufacturer’s logo are also permitted.
7.
JEWELRY
Only watches and earrings may be visible
on a student. Necklaces are not
permitted to be visible. If they cannot
be hidden under the clothing, they must be removed. Only one earring per ear may be worn by females only and cannot
extend further than ½ an inch below the ear lobe. No student may wear make up, including nail polish.
8.
SCHOOL MATERIALS AND PROPERTY
Do not bring any of the following to
school: games, gum, knives, stereos or toys.
No writing on school materials or
property unless given permission.
Do not touch anything that is not yours
unless you have permission.
Return materials to their original
place.
Keep hands and feet off of the school
building.
No litter should be thrown about the
school building or property. Use the
waste paper baskets.
9.
CELL PHONES
Cell phones are not allowed in the possession of students while on campus at any school during school hours or during school functions. They will be confiscated and returned to the parents after school hours. This is a directive from the ministry of Education.
10.
ABSENCES OR LATENESS
In case of lateness, absence or request for early dismissal,
students are to bring a note, signed by the parent or guardian, explaining the
reasons. During school hours, no
student is allowed off school premises without permission from a teacher.
11.
GUESTS
If you would like to have a student
guest, the Principal must approve the visit during school hours the day before.
12.
PHYSICAL CONTACT
Keep your hands to yourself. Any inappropriate touching, even in jest, is
not acceptable.
13.
BELLS
When the first bell rings all playing
should cease and, if necessary, get water and go to the bathroom. When second bell rings, all talking should
cease and walk quietly to your place in line.
Pupils should walk quietly along the corridor and speak softly in the
foyer.
14.
EATING AND DRINKING
No eating or drinking in the classroom
areas.
15.
BICYCLES AND SCOOTERS
All bicycles and scooters are to be
parked at the back of the school in the bike rack.
16.
NO UNIFORM DAYS
Each Tuesday is designated a voluntary
“No Uniform” day. Students are
permitted to wear street clothes that are appropriate for school and church
outings. Tank tops, spaghetti straps
and shorts higher than 2 inches above the knees are not permitted. Shoes must have a back or back strap.
“Flip-flops” are not permitted. The cost for those students choosing to
participate is $1.00. Jewelry other than that which is approved for regular
days may be worn for an additional $1.00.
17.
A PROPER ATTITUDE is expected to be displayed at all times. This includes:
-Good manners
-Use of words like “Good
Morning”, “Hello”, “Thank You”, “You’re Welcome”, etc…
-Polite conversation
-Volunteering to help
others
-Respect for teachers
and each other at all times.
